Xiegu G7250 FT8 and USB digital-mode guide

What the G7250 currently supports for USB audio, CAT control and FT8, including software options and the accessories it does not require.

Reviewed: September 16, 2026 Source basis: Current Xiegu introduction and product training material Status: Preview information; production confirmation pending

What is built into the radio

The G7250 includes a USB sound card and supports a direct USB connection for digital-mode operation. A computer can use the radio’s USB interface for digital audio and control, reducing the external hardware normally required for modes such as FT8.

Current material lists DIG mode and preset CW messaging. Exact driver, CAT and software behavior may change before production firmware is finalized.

Direct USB audio

The radio provides the audio interface internally; a separate sound-card interface is not part of the expected signal chain.

CAT control

Computer control is expected over USB. The final radio profile, port assignment and baud-rate guidance still require publication.

Currently listed software

FT8CN, WSJT-X, JTDX and FLRig appear in current training material.

Not required

CE-19 and DE-19 are not required or supported for G7250. XPA125B is also not part of the normal full-power setup.

Expected FT8 setup workflow

  1. Connect the G7250 USB interface to the computer.
  2. Install the final Xiegu driver package when it is released.
  3. Select the G7250 USB audio input and output in the digital-mode application.
  4. Configure CAT control using the final port and baud-rate instructions.
  5. Begin with conservative computer audio output and monitor ALC during transmission.
  6. Confirm time synchronization, operating frequency and transmit audio before calling.
Preview limitation: this is the expected workflow, not final production setup documentation. Tested driver links, CAT profiles and recommended transmit levels will be added after production-unit validation.
